All I Want for Christmas - ferreum

ferreum:

“I’ll go first because I have two so you can go in between.” He nodded, picking up the larger box and handing it over to Steve with a grin.

(He was very, very excited for Steve to open it.)

Wrapped carefully and with a little blue and red bow on it, was a Faber-Castell Art & Graphic case, which Tony had decided that Steve needed as soon as he found out about the other man’s passion for arts. It had everything he could ever need: color pencils, watercolor pencils, pastels, an assortment of brushes, etc. “I was gonna get you some paints to go with it but I wasn’t sure if you preferred to paint with oil or acrylic.”

Steve, out of habit, was very careful with opening the present to avoid tearing the paper. He knew there was no need to reuse wrapping paper in this household, but somehow it didn’t feel right to rip and tear. As soon as Steve saw the brand name on the side of the case, he knew what was coming, and it showed on his face right away.

But the real reaction came from opening the case.

His eyes were like dinner plates, watching as more and more unfolded from the case. More colors than he could’ve imagined, the sort of tools and materials that real artists used.

Completely breathless, Steve’s fingertips rolled over a neat line of colors. “Lord…” he managed to breathe, the first sound he’d been able to make since opening it. It was obvious that he was entirely enthralled.

When he tore his attention away and back to Tony, Steve was lit up like the fourth of July. “I–I don’t know what to say.” he said, with a hopelessly enamored sort of smile. “It's amazing, Tony, I–lord, it’s really amazing. Thank you so much."
