Hit and Run - Open
Natasha gave Steve a look. She knew that he wouldn’t actually get hypothermia but she’d rather say that then point out that the cold could have some nasty mental effects on him. “Well, we still should get you out of here, maybe get get you checked out by medical, make sure you don’t need your leg set,” she said. She moved to his side as he started to attempt to stand, she wrapped an arm around his shoulders and helped take on some of his weight.
“Assholes,” she muttered. Who left someone they hit on the road out in the middle of nowhere? “Did you get a look at their plates?” she asked.
“Yeah.” he replied, voice strained as he managed to stand with her assistance. He thanked his lucky stars that she was so strong, heaven knew he had a lot of weight that needed supporting. “Probably a good idea, don’t want it healing wrong.” Considering how quickly he healed, they’d probably want to do that sooner rather than later. Having to break it again would not be pleasant.
He tried to replay the moment of the accident in slow motion, seeking out the image of a license plate among the chaos. “No, I don’t think so. Not long enough to make it out, at least.” which was saying something, all things considered.
They made it to the car eventually, Steve’s teeth gritted hard as he forced his unresponsive leg to cooperate. The worst was over at that point, right? “Sorry if I mess up your upholstery.” he chuckled weakly, glancing at her. Even now, he tried to lighten the mood.
